A brief history
From 2015, we switched to organic farming in all areas. This means that we do not use insecticides or herbicides. During crop protection, we only use sulfur and plant extracts. Our work is checked by Biokontroll Hungária.
BARAKONYI DŰLŐ
It is located on the border of Bodrogkisfalud, on the southern side of Várhegy, where we cultivate 2 ha of grapes.
Its soil is extremely rich and complex like a mosaic. The most common is the residue of rhyolite tufa, the so-called "stone dust". The fruiting layer is very shallow, 30-40 cm, but in places it is even thinner than that or is completely absent. The soil is poor in humus, but rich in minerals.
The plantation has a south-southeast exposure.
The partially abandoned areas were resettled in 1999. Plantation is located at an altitude of 250 m.
The amount of crop is adjusted in several steps. By pruning: 8 buds remain per stem, with shoot sorting in May, when the unnecessary shoots are broken off, with cluster sorting at the beginning of August, when the final cluster number is set. A maximum of 8 clusters remain per capital, so approx. half of the clusters are sorted. In many cases, the curls are so large that the curls have to be cut in two.
Varietal composition: Furmint 38%, Lime-leaved 23%, Fat grapes 28%, Yellow Muscat 11%
CSIRKE-MÁL DŰLŐ
It is located on the border of Bodrogkisfalud, on the ridge bordered by the Rózsa-árk and Csirke-árk. Cultivation of the area was abandoned by the previous owners about 30 years ago, and since then it has been lying fallow. It was reinstalled in 2004.
The plantation is located at an altitude of 250-280 m. In the upper third of the field, the upper, shallow layer of the soil is bound clay, below it is rhyolite, and in spots hard andesite, in the lower third of the vineyard, the soil has been eroded and rhyolite tuff has come to the surface. Most of the area is south-facing, and a small part turns from east to south.
Varieties: Furmint 75%, Fat grapes 10%, Yellow Muscat 15%
