Nose

The Merlot shines through in this wine offering a very warming and plush ripe plum softness on the aromas next to cinnamon-like spiciness and lovely herbal freshness.

Palate

On the palate, merlot’s texture shines through with a rich yet extremely velvety body, dark chocolate, and ripe plum flavors with an endlessly long and fresh aftertaste of spice-infused plum preserve. Textural and full-bodied wine, beautifully balanced by great freshness and vibrant acidity. What a treat! Merlot lovers do not miss this one out!

Growing Conditions

Lean, elegant, and balanced wines were produced from the 2020 vintage. The late bud-break given by the unusually long winter next to a colder-than-usual summer and an extraordinarily warm September created the perfect balance between freshness and ripeness.

Blend of two estate-grown vineyards: Makár and Zuhánya located in Siklós, a sub-region of Villány. The backbone of this wine is given by the Merlot grown in the Makár vineyard. Its high elevation, good airflow, and strong diurnal shift create wines with a distinct finesse and balance that represents the Siklós area’s personality. Zuhánya’s younger vineyards provide freshness and vibrancy to the blend. These two -and very different- locations combined create the flagship wine of the Sauska winery: Cuvée 7 Siklós.
