Winemaking
We were the first in Szekszárd to start the practice of aging in small barrels. The vintage of 1994 was the first to be aged in such barrels. We began the cautious acquaintance with only three barrels, as back then the process of aging in barrique oak barrels was not well-known in Hungarian winemaking.
Since the first year we believe, that the wines that are produced with this technique the hint of wood and roast should never be dominant.
The Cabernet Franc (60%) and the Merlot (40%) have constituted this classic from the first year.
In the beginning the ratio was the opposite and then in 1997 we reversed it and named it Turul.
The Cabernet Franc’s heavy and often coarse style is excellently complemented and smoothed out by the lightness and kindness of the Merlot.
