A variety bred by crossing Portugieser (Port) and Blue Frankish, and brought to life in 1923 by Dr. Fritz Zweigelt in Klosterneuburg, Austria. The word blau means blue in Hungarian, the other part of the word may refer to Klosterneuburg and not Burgundy.
