Growing Conditions

A family-owned, eco-friendly wine estate in the volcanic hills of Lake Balaton, Hungary, surrounded by national parks. Volcanic and basalt soils, pristine lake, cool climate, pure forest air and plenty of sunshine create magical environment for our vineyards on Nemesgulacs slopes.

Harvest

Only good grapes picked by hand in late September in small capacity boxes. Very low yield of 0.28Kg per m2.

Bottling

Bottling completed by mid-September.

Winemaking

Blaufränkish red wine is made only in years when the fruit reaches high quality. To make this vintage, hand-picked whole bunches were destemmed. Fermentation of destemmed grapes took place in stainless steel vats using indigenous neutral yeast for 20 days at cool and controlled temperatures in order to preserve elegance of the fruit. Malolactic fermentation was allowed, followed by ageing in tank for 6 months. Pre-bottling filtration was done without using any clarifying agent.

Aging

Aged in steel tank for 6 months
