An old Hungarian variety, characteristic of the Badacsony wine region, is virtually nonexistent anywhere else. In the past, it was called the grape of aristocrats, because it takes time and manpower to care for, and it is also a famously low-yielding variety.

A true Central European variety from the Carpathian Basin, olaszrizling has many synonyms, and although the variety is taken most seriously in Hungary, you can also encounter olaszrizling in good numbers in the surrounding countries as well. Its origin is shrouded in obscurity, but it is quite certain that Balaton is unimaginable without olaszrizling. The Badacsonyi Olaszrizling is the estate's entry-level olaszrizling, in the name of which Badacsony does not denote the mountain, but the wine region. We harvest from Szent György-hegy, Szigliget and Hajagos for this batch, so it shows a more general picture of the given vintage. Its color is straw yellow, its aroma is dominated by watery stone, lime honey and grandma's apricot jam.
