A brief history
I had a dream…
As a Hungarian I have always been dreaming of having a winery in the Tokaj region.
I had no particular connection to the profession—neither as a viticulturist nor as a winemaker—and I wasn’t even from the area. From the outside, it must have seemed like a truly crazy idea.
My bold vision was supported from the very beginning by my late husband, who passed away in 2000, and it started to take shape in 1991...
After the fall of socialism our family acquired 1991 the famous cellars of Flórián Bilicki in Abaújszántó.
Regarded as the gateway to the region, Abaújszántó was formerly the second largest town and commercial center in the area.
Since 2005, we have been cultivating our vineyards based on biodynamic farming principles. In 2008, our winery became the first certified organic estate in the Tokaj-Hegyalja region.
By 2011, we were the first winery in Hungary to receive biodynamic certification from Demeter International. Our vineyards are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site (Tokaj Wine Region Historic Cultural Landscape).
Our family has been involved in winemaking for over 30 years, cultivating one of the region’s finest growing areas. We have built our knowledge through self-learning, the support of good friends and colleagues, and, above all, hands-on experience.
