A brief history
There are buildings that, at first glance, seem to be more than their peers. The birthplace of Ede Paluay (1836-1894), a renowned National Theatre director, playwright, translator and drama teacher, is just such a place; it is located in the historic city centre of Tokaj, at 11 Hajdú köz. The house was built in the 1700s and has been expanded and rebuilt several times over the centuries. In the 1950s, it became the property of the Csíki family, and two generations later, in 2010, we decided to establish a family winery in it. In May 2011, we began the complete renovation of the house. During the works, our goal was to preserve the original character of the house, while modernizing it to meet the needs of today.
