We planted nine grape varieties on 33 ha in the historic wine region, so that we could make an independent batch from each one.

When choosing varieties, quality and following traditions were the only considerations, so we mainly deal with white wine grape varieties.

The Benedek family winery lies in the heart of the Mátra Mountains in northern Hungary. It is a small estate in harmony with nature, and the wines reflect the Benedeks' love and care for the grapes. The cellar used today was built by Péter's grandparents. They originally harvested only 1.5 hectares; today, the estate is 17 hectares and growing. Péter is the winemaker, while his brother Balázs helps out in the cellar and his parents help tend the vineyards.

Our family cultivates 90 hectares of grapes on the southern shore of Lake Balaton, in the specially endowed vineyards of the varied Somogyi hills. Three generations share the responsibilities of the winery: Papa Feri, who has the most experience, supervises the vineyard work; his son, Feri, and his daughter-in-law, Bea, decide on winemaking issues, while his other son, Zsiga, is in charge of commerce. The younger generation is already helping - Zsiga's daughter Dana has been joining the team since the spring of 2018, and her son Matyi since the spring of 2020. The winemaker is supplied by Feri's youngest son, Ferkó, who obtained his degree in winemaking in the summer of 2020, as a representative of the third generation of the family.

The wine region traditionally has a wide selection of varieties, the properties are ideal for many varieties, so no monodominant grapes have developed. In the cellar, we find white varieties on 60% of the areas. We work with local, Hungarian varieties such as Olaszriesling, Olivér Irsai, Kárálylényka or Kékfrankos. Sauvignon blanc, Muscat Lunel, Rhine Riesling and Chardonnay stand out among the world varieties here, while Merlot feels best among the blue grapes.
When renovating the plantations, we based ourselves on the experience of Papa Feri, in his head the 50-year average yield and must degree of the entire wine region is compiled into a table. Today, it can be seen what a good decision it was to install along these lines.

Carpinus Family Winery is a heritage of generations in one place, our winemaking roots trace back to the 17th century. It is our goal to be an example of a Tokaj winery that with top quality work and family cooperation, without compromise, can run sustainably and build a stable position in the world wine market. 

Carpinus offers dry, late harvest, and Aszú wines, also in single vineyard selections from our best vineyards. Our dynamism is bringing exciting wines – sweet and dry – from the most important grape varieties, mainly Furmint and Hárslevelű, that burst with minerality from the volcanic soils and express fruity subtlety from the loess soils.  With a focus on Deák and Lapis provenance by reflecting the unique personality of each terroir in the wine. All of our wines are made from vineyards where we keep the yields low. We manage the vineyards using organic viticultural methods with minimal intervention.

Our family winery and inn is located in Mád, Tokaj Wine Region. We exclusively work with our three own certified organic vineyards: Úrágya, Király, and Kakas of Mád. Of the eight hectares three are fully traditional hand labor bush-vines. It is important for us to present the local conditions – soils, varieties and viticulture – therefore all our efforts are aimed at harvesting characteristic and perfect grapes.

In winemaking we follow the same philosophy: we work gently, traditionally and naturally. During the organic development of the estate, in 2003 we got to the point where our first – 900 bottles -, Úrágya Furmint, was put on the international market. Organic farming experiences date back to 2004, in 2010 we countinued with all the vineyards, and the certification folowed. From our average of 12,000 bottles of wine a year, exclusive batches still play an important role today. Since the establishment of the Mádi Kör Association  in 2006, we have been actively participating in the research work aimed at presenting the vineyards of Mád. With the Technical Earth Science Faculty of University of Miskolc we are active in the exploration of the vulcanism forming the region and its effect on the plantations since 2015. Our viticulurist, dr. Endre Demeter was even working at the University in the  most active years of the geology research.

Staying true to nature is the core of our philosophy, both with regard to viniculture and in the process of making quality wine. We believe that Mother Nature has already figured out how to do things the best way, and it is possible for us humans to work in harmony with her. We do not trust the fancy “panaceas of winemaking”, however, we firmly believe that the grapevine will repay the care we invest in its cultivation, with the production of fine grapes. After several years of work, we have learned how to take good care of our vineyard, and decided that the organic (also called bio) agriculture method is the way that best suits our philosophy. In practice, this means that we do not use any insecticides, herbicides, and absorbable fungicides, instead we supply the grapevine with natural compounds that strengthen the immune system of the plant. It is hard work to stick to our beliefs, and the expenses pile up quicky, but we are convinced that the sensation of an outstanding bottle of wine is worth all the effort.

We continue to pursue the ideas of naturalness in the process of wine production. Only the finest grapes will be processed, which contain the necessary nutrients and yeasts that will enable us to produce wine without using additives or cultured yeasts. We use only natural ingredients, and we are continuously monitoring the unique attributes of grape varieties. Our wines only contain what the grapes, the terroir and the vintage have provided for us. The grapes are hand harvested and put into wooden crates, they are carefully selected and – in the case of red wines – the wine is fermented in vats for 10-20 days, while going through traditional Pigéage, after which it is drained into high quality Hungarian, American or French oak barrels.

In 2020, our new winery building started to operate, which also includes a modern cellar. Our winery produces 45,000 bottles of wine a year.

The flourishing of viticulture can be traced back to the great grandfather, who in the middle of the 19th century bought the property, which also includes the current arboretum, together with the building and cellar on it.

The wine region is special not only in terms of the microclimate and the location of Lake Balaton, but also in terms of soil. Basalt is usually the dominant, but, as in the case of Arboretum plantations, limestone, red Permian sandstone soils can also be found here.

For generations, viticulture and winemaking have been an integral part of the Frittmann family's life. We have always wanted to make attractive, quality wines, drinks for fun and celebration, wines we can be proud to put our name on. That's why we've always thought outside the box: we were among the first to enter the market in the 1990s with Irsai Olivér, a variety that is an outstanding example of Hungarian innovation. We started producing lively, refreshing, fruity rosés at a time when the genre was unknown in this country.

United as brothers, we left behind the farming profession inherited from our ancestors to build a winery. The estate, which started next to our mother's house, has become the region’s leading winery over the past decades, the family has also grown, and today our children Anita, Tamás and Péter are the leaders and builders of the brand.

Today, the two generations are working together to prove what the Kunság terroir is capable of, from light, fruity wines to serious oak-aged wines.

Our 3 rd generation winery is part of the Erdőbénye based Liget-family farm. Since the technological change in 2014, we have been experimenting with wild and wine yeasts. Our first commercialized dry, still wines were produced in 2016 and since 2019 grape juice and champagne have also been bottled.

As the engines of the winery, we are an architect couple with 2 sons, supported by the extended family. We can be found in a traditional stone house in Erdőbénye and in Miskolc on the Avas wine cellar row. White grapes are harvested in Bodrogkeresztúr’s Lapis and Erdőbénye’s Lepény vineyards.

Our wines are imprints of our family’s recent growth. In our supply you can find the vintage characteristics, different wine styles and technologies, as well as grape juice, dry furmint and hárslevelű, champagnes, late harvest and sweet furmint.

The triple of winery-architecture-nature mindset can be traced in our buildings too. We are continuously exploring and experimenting on the relationship of nature and man-made world, with a maturing and growing mentality.

Our winery is in the heart of the Tokaj wine region in Hungary, just a few miles from Europe’s geometric centre. The Mád basin holds a special position in the world of winegrowing because of its unique soil, macroclimate, and microclimate. Settled as early as the 15th century, Mád is identified in ancient documents as a borough. It was a meeting point for barons, counts, lords, and wine merchants, making it a pivotal location for winegrowing and the wine trade.

Holdvölgy operates on an area of twenty-eight hectares. Our estate is situated on twenty-seven parcels within seven different vineyards in the best areas of the Mád basin. Our cellar is one of the oldest cellar systems in the region, with some sections dating back as far as the 16th century. Our cellar is also one of the longest, measuring 1.8 kilometers.

The history of the winery started with a one-hectare birthday present.
By 2021, the Estate had grown to twenty-eight hectares.
The goal was and still is to achieve the vision of creating an iconic brand by international standards.

In the eve of this 21st Century and taking into account all the major wine regions of the World only Tokaj and more particularly the Mád Basin would give us the means to succeed in our quest.

Our small family winery has relatively young roots. We started making wine only 6 years ago, but we have achieved great results from the very first year. In 2014, we purchased a 35-hectare estate consisting of two beautiful valleys. In 2016, we planted 6 grape varieties on the 5-hectare, gently sloping, excellently situated hilltop area separating the two valleys. The largest area is occupied by Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, while the remaining area is shared by Kékfrankos, Syrah, Alibernet and a new variety, Pinot Regina. Pinot Regina has only been on the list of varieties since January 2020, and to the best of our knowledge, you could first encounter it as a varietal wine here in 2018.

We can produce high-quality must from hand-harvested, carefully selected grapes. Since September 2019, we have been able to produce our wines in our newly completed processing hall.

This site should remind to the experience of the arrival or homecoming, which unmistakably catches someone when they look around the first time from the small square in front of the press-house, over the vineyards of Csopak and Paloznak and Lake Balaton. From the devotion that seizes the visitor at the top of the sixty-four stairs of the cellar. Of course only in cyberspace. Even the best wine description could not give back the experience of the wines of Csopak, tasting them in the summer sunset or in the autumn mist. So the purpose of this website is that people take a liking to visit us in our cellar and our panoramic, slightly larger tastingvenue, where we serve cold dishes to our guests, to stop at our small wine shop on road 71 or at our winery. In lack of time just order a bottle of Csopak-wine in a restaurant or take some off from the shelf of a wine shop.

Enchanted by the history of the legendary Tokaji wine region, the Hwang Family purchased Királyudvar in 1997. He restored the property’s orginal manor and press house, and resurrected the famed vineyards. Today, it stands as a leader in the region’s renaissance.

Királyudvar has 6 main vineyards located in Tokaji’s heartland on the hilltops surrounding the villages of Mád and Bodrogkeresztúr. All are historically important grand cru sites, including Henye, Percze, Becsek, and the great Lapis. The dominant grapes are Furmint and Hárslevelű, with a small amount of Muskotály. Ownership of the Loire Valley’s famed Domaine Huet has provided the family with invaluable insight in developing Királyudvar. The estate adopted biodynamic viticulture in 2008, and gained full certification in 2011.

Koch Borászat is an outstanding winery in Hajós-Baja , and VinArt winery is a winery producing quality and premium red wines in the Villányi Borvidék . A significant part of the estate is a vineyard (140 ha) located in Bács-kiskun county, in the Danube wine region, around the village of Borota.

The modern lines of the winery, which blends into the hillside of the picturesque Lajvér creek valley, reveal a fantastic, brand-new and even more modern illustrative winery. The building’s straight lines and angular shapes spectacularly highlight the landscape, while the interlocking stepped contours engage in an exciting dialogue with the hillside terraces.
Our function room, which opened in August 2017, awaits our dear guests who would like to choose our function room as their wedding venue.

In addition, it can be an excellent venue for exclusive dinners, family events, conferences and, of course, wine lovers with wine tasting and cellar visits.

The history of our family winery, the Lisicza Borház, goes back to the second half of the 1800s, when my mother's family - the Mérey family - started planting grapes on our still-existing areas in Helesfa. We bought our cellar and press house in 1906, which is still the center of our winery. At that time, our vineyards spread over Helesfá, Kővágószőlős and Cserkút, which were nationalized after the Second World War, and then the plantations were cut down. In 1998, my father, dr. Under the leadership of István Lisicza, the replanting, the renovation of the old cellar and the creation of a modern winery began.

On the edge of the village of Mátraalján (Gyöngyössolymos), we have nearly 400 hectares of vines (roughly 1,600,000 grapes). Most of these capitals consist of varieties that produce fragrant white wine, such as Irsai Olivér, Muskotály, Cserszegi fűszeres, Tramini, but world varieties such as Chardonnay, Szürkebarát, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling also feel great with us. Our domestic favorites such as Olaszriesling or Furmint are not left out of the selection. In terms of blue grapes, Kékfrankos is our variety grown on the largest area, but we believe that the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Syrah varieties are also capable of miracles, even in the case of a rosé or special vintages in the form of a large red wine.

The Tokaj area, Tokaj-Hegyalja is located on a mountain chain in north-eastern Hungary. The town of Tolcsva and the Oremus wineries are located in geographical centre of that region.
 
In 2002, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee recognised the exceptional winemaking conditions of the Tokaj region, its secular capacity to foster culture and its value, and awarded it World Heritage status.
 
In 1993, just 3 years after the fall of Communism, the Alvarez family turned its sights to Hungary and founded Tokaj-Oremus Viñedos y Bodegas. The estate's activities are mainly based in Tolcsva, where a modern winemaking winery was built in 1999 and is connected to the maze of cellars that have been found there since the 13th century.
 
The Álvarez family placed great emphasis on the respectful and detailed study of this wine to establish its production process and its history. It also strived as far as possible to conserve the tradition when it oversaw the works to build the new winery.

The Royal Tokaji Wine Company, founded in Hungary in 1990, has become one of the most defining wineries in Tokaj. From the outset, Royal Tokaji decided to concentrate on producing single-vineyard wines, made from the first growth vineyards of Mézes Mály, Nyulászó, Szt. Tamás and Betsek. Acknowledged as one of the region's top winemakers, combining traditional techniques with modern technology to create the award-winning Royal Tokaji range of wines. Royal Tokaji is the acknowledged leader of the renaissance of this legendary Hungarian wine, which, in the words of the wine author and company co-founder Hugh Johnson, is "a wine that would make angels sing out loud in praise".

The Rustica Borműhely started operating as a family artisan winery in 2020. Our cellar is located in downtown Szentendre, and we cultivate our grapes in Pilisborosjenő and Üröm. Currently close to 3 hectars cultivated by us, 6 varieties, these are: Chardonnay, Ezerfürtű, Olivér Irsai, Kékfrankos, Zweigelt and Merlot. The surface clayey-calcareous soil gives the opportunity to make excellent, substantial wines with a good acid structure.

The name of our winery was inspired by the city's earliest memory of viticulture, the memories of which are preserved in the Szentendre Skanzen: among the ruins of the Villa Rustica (the house of the demobilized Roman soldier) excavated in the area of the Open-Air Ethnography Museum, a large amount of charred wine remains, roasted grape seeds and two almost intact grape pruning knives and numerous a fragment of a viticulture tool was found.

Currently, people do not associate Szentendre with wine, and few people know that Szentendre dates back to the 19th century. In the 19th century, it belonged to one of the country's largest wine regions. It was once famous for its sweet red aszú wine, which was known as "Szentendre red" in Europe. In the area of Szentendre, the Romans already lived in the II.-IV. In the 19th century, grapes were grown, as evidenced by the findings of the aforementioned Villa Rustica.

Samuel Tinon was born in Bordeaux in 1969 and grew up on the family estate in Sainte-Croix du Mont, France. He graduated in viticulture and oenology in 1989 travelling the world as a flying winemaker in Australia, Texas, Chile, Italy… In 1991, Samuel was the first French man to settle in Tokaj, just after the political changes and prior to the start of the privatization of the vineyards.
 
After working for different companies during the 1990’s, he started his own production in 2000. His first wine was launched in 2005.

We not only love it passionately, but we also know it intimately: we have spent decades ensuring that our vineyards and carefully selected varietals have the best conditions and reflect their place of production as refined as possible.

Besides the world varietals – Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah – native red Kadarka and Kékfrankos are in the focus of our work representing Villány`s modern, strong, irresistible beauty.

In Szekszárd, at Kadarka utca 100, there should obviously be a winery. On the former row of cellars, today only the building complex of our winery hints at what the residents of the street did a hundred years ago. Here, visitors are welcomed by the locally protected press house, built in the 1800s in classicist style, with an old three-pronged cellar.

The Szekszárd valleys are special. This landscape gives the unique character, which is the basis of our varied, carefully cultivated wines. 20 years ago, we started to develop our own style with local and international varieties, based on our own ideas. The style search work of the first decade made it possible to produce the first premium, vineyard-selected wines from all our regions. And with this, we fulfilled our decade-long dream: to show our own, unique, recognizable voice through bull blood wines.

According to our idea, bull blood embodies the Szekszárd character, tradition and innovation at the same time. Thanks to kékfrankos and kadarka, we manage to bottle expressive, contemporary and fresh wines year after year, yet the merlot and cabernet that produce classically noble red wines are clearly recognizable.

Pure flavors, pure wines, pure thoughts. It goes back and forth from one to the other. From the beginning, the ecosystem of this fragile mountain and the physical and mental health of myself and our colleagues were important to me.

We have been organic farming since 2014, under control since 2018.

This is our path, this is what we chose, there are no absorbed chemicals, no herbicides, no fertilizers on the plantations. We see that the soil life is richer, the wines are richer every year, the plantations are islands of biodiversity. Is it sustainable? I can see it now, but it will become clear in the future.

In the Somló wine region, 60 percent of its total plantations currently have vines that have already transitioned or are in the process of transitioning.

Producing red and white wines from the same area is a particularly challenging task. We would like to create terroir-specific character wines based on traditions and, at the same time, follow the requirements of today’s quality winemaking. We make our wines with traditional and natural methods, and are led by affection and vocation. We pay special attention to the traditional varieties of our wine region, such as Olaszrizling, Hárslevelű, Furmint, Kadarka and Kékfrankos.

There is an old saying that grapes thrive in beautiful places. And truly beautiful places produce exceptional wine. For those who visit us for the first time and glance around from our terrace, the panoramic view of Lake Balaton with vineyards stretching into the distance, the Kerekedi Bay, and the Tihany volcano is, without exaggeration, a memory for a lifetime. However this place is much more than just a viewpoint. The justification for the undisturbed spectacle lies in the cultivated vineyards that have been shaping the slopes leading to Lake Balaton for 2000 years. The past lives in the ruins of Roman villas from the era of Saint Donat, in the 7th century name of Paloznak referring to vineyards, in the first written Hungarian record mentioning grapes – the Guden donation letter with its Latin lines from 1079 – and last but not least, in the memory of 100 generations engaged in grape cultivation. Those who only see the panorama do not truly experience the place. This is a living space of vineyards and history, a true heritage that must be preserved for the next 100 generations. This is why we cultivate grapes, why we develop our estate. In the meantime, we feel the spirit of the ancients living in the wine, and our vineyard-patron St. Donat assists and helps us wherever he can.

Our family winery is located in Pécsely, north of Tihany. We wanted to build a small winery, where at the end we can hold the wine we produce and make in our hands. We are strongly connected to Lake Balaton, so it was a given that we would look around. Encouraged by my father's idea, in 2015, as a young couple, we found the vineyard that we fell in love with at first sight. So the three of us are building the winery with the help of our families.

Our vineyard is one of the oldest certified organic vineyards in the country. Spanning 24 hectares, we have plantations in the southern slopes of Mount Saint George, Szigliget, Hajagos, and Lesencetomaj.

Our philosophy is simple, just like our connection to the world surrounding us: to produce something of beauty and permanent value, while maintaining ethical farming practices. These principles also guide me when making my wines. Since we farm on a small area, it is not quantity but uniqueness that dominates the wines we make. Today, Tornai Winery is the largest family estate on Somló hill. We grow grapes on 170 aces, mainly in the southern areas of the hill. The winery is both a modern processing and wine tourism center. It is a permanent venue for professional meetings, viticultural and wine events. It maintains contacts with several domestic and foreign universities and research institutes, and many professionals have started their successful professional careers here.

40 years ago, Uncle Feri had a dream, a big one or maybe not so big after all: he simply wanted to grow grapes, make delicious wine out of them, and share it with others. Since 2006, the next generation has been building and beautifying the legacy. With the combined efforts of Uncle Feri’s daughter, Kata, and her husband, they continue the winemaking with an innovative mindset while keeping the original goal in mind. They hope that one day, they can hand over the keys to the cellar to another generation.

The history of the Turay family, which operates the Turay Family Winery, goes back to the 17th century. The noble rank of the family was granted in 1663 by Emperor Lipót I. Thanks to historical research, it turned out that the Turays have been cultivating grapes for 12 generations, but during the turbulent historical period of the 20th century, the vineyards and landholdings escaped us. Our current cellar and winery became the property of the family in February 2002.

Like so many other stories in the life of an architect, our story started with a building: a villa in Balatonfüred.



The building, originally intended as a second home, came with a few rows of vines, and it was discovered that in the first half of the last century, Lajos Szabó, a restaurateur from Budapest, the villa's builder, had converted the lower level of the house into a wine cellar.

As a designer and builder of modern residential buildings, I felt a special desire to restore not only the original beauty but also the function of this villa built before World War II. So, while we were renovating the villa, I went back to school to learn about viticulture and winemaking, and not much later I bottled my very first wine, a Merlot. Soon the vineyards began to grow and within a few years we built Villa Gyetvai Wine Estate with vineyards on the outskirts of Tihany, Aszófő and Paloznak and a well-established, modern winery in the cellar of the villa.

We are a small family owned company. Our main goal is to make great gold award wining wines, in limited quantities.

Our story dates back to the XVIII century when the Zombory family ancestors owned vineyards in the Mecsek hills, in southern Hungary. In 1741 they were granted lands and nobility by the Austrian Empress Maria Theresia, for their daring role in expelling the Turks from the medieval towns of Szigetvár and Pécs.

After a long and thrilling history of wars, dynasties and changing fortunes, the parents of the present owners of the Zombory winery, fled to Argentina in the mid of the XX.th century, in their search for freedom when the communist terror invaded Hungary. Tamás returned to the motherland in 1996, and together with his brother István, who remained in Buenos Aires, where he is also involved in world class winemaking, they started their venture in the historic site of Tokaj in 2003, founding Zombory Pince, one of the most promising and exciting boutique wineries of Hungary.

The Zombory Pince vineyards are located on the sunny volcanic Tokaj-Hegyalja hillsides, along the Bodrog river, where the autumns are dry and long. The misty mountains, the dewy mornings and the luminous afternoons, generate the ideal conditions for botrytis cinerea to slowly cover the mature, sugar-filled grapes, causing dehydration and shrivel on the clusters, and concentrating the sugar in the berries. The action of this fungus or “noble rot” gives the Aszú its extraordinary bouquet which distinguishes it from the ‘late harvest’ or ‘icewine’, which are not “botrytized wines.
